Petition - Short Stay Accommodation Bass Coast

The Bass Coast is a thriving tourism region with the economies of our key towns very much dependant on tourism as a mainstay driver.

Demand for Short Stay Rental Accommodation (SSRA) is growing and our Region is reliant on homeowners who offer SSRA via Air Bnb and booking agencies.

Against this backdrop,Bass Coast Council has elected to hit such providers with a substantial increase in Annual Registration Fees (effective from 1 July 2026) for Council to manage the Registration process. All Bass Coast Council are achieving with this huge Fee increase is to make it harder for Short Stay Accommodation to be offered and attract people to our region-this hurts our businesses and general economies.

ITA’s position is that the newly introduced fees of $600/$900 per annum should be scrapped and the previous fee of $300 pa be maintained.

We want visitors coming to Bass Coast rather than see them choose to visit other locations where they can obtain suitable short-term Accommodation.

If you are a property owner in Bass Coast, please get behind our advocacy on this issue by signing the petition below which will be presented to the Councils OCTOBER meeting.

Please help us get to 1000 signatures!
